Should septic tank riser be above ground?
Septic tank riser should never be buried.
They should be approx. 2" from final grade (ground level) to prevent ground water from entering the system.

What size septic tank riser do I need?
Septic tanks must be installed with at least one watertight riser extending to the ground surface or above. The riser must have a minimum diameter of 20 inches when the soil cover above the tank does not exceed 36 inches.
Failing Distribution Box
A septic distribution box can fail if:​

​The filter, which blocks solid wastes from entering the distribution box, suffers damage or clogging.

The distribution box compartment cracks and spews wastes into the surrounding environment.

The box suffers clogged inlets or outlets.
Newly Replaced Distribution Box
The distribution box is a component of the leach field system. The job of the distribution box is to evenly distribute the wastewater into the leach field (also known as the drain field)
